The first version of this site uses a rule-based database to estimate hotel season levels by month and region. It highlights low season, regular season, peak season, and super peak season, then gives practical booking advice and alternative areas to compare. If live prices, flights, car rentals, event calendars, affiliate comparisons, or sponsored partnerships are added later, the relevant content will be clearly marked near the link or recommendation.

Who maintains this site

WhenJapan is maintained by the site operator under the public name Japan Travel Comfort Calculator. The aim is not to sell packaged tours, but to turn checkable public information about Japanese holidays, events, pollen, weather seasonality, and hotel-pressure patterns into repeatable travel planning judgments. How data is checked

The planning model combines structured monthly rules, verified event and fireworks dates, visitor-market context, and festival records. Content that depends on dates or public rules should keep a source, a checked date, and a verified or pending status where relevant. Events are not treated as confirmed until an official or organizer source is clear enough to cite.

Visitor-market data is reviewed around the JNTO monthly release rhythm. Holidays, fireworks, festivals, and seasonal rules are rechecked when new guides, month pages, or annual planning updates are published. Copy edits and layout changes are not presented as fresh data verification.
