All times are local to Japan. Charm counters, shrine offices, grounds and goshuin desks may have different hours. Only published arrangements are listed; a missing field does not mean daily opening or that no booking is needed.

This is a design catalogue, not live stock information. Check current notices before traveling. A postal application does not reserve an item for collection.

AI-generated sketch-style cartoons illustrate general themes. They do not show the actual items; check official pages for their designs, colors and details.

Before collecting a charm

Save its Japanese name and check the correct counter’s hours. For postal requests, confirm your delivery destination is accepted. Check steps and transfers if traveling with children, older relatives or luggage.

How we verified

We read shrine and temple catalogues, notices, access pages and official tourism information. Designs, collection arrangements, transport and nearby stops link to their sources, each with its actual check date. These were online checks, not in-person visits.

Confidence: high for designs and arrangements directly listed by the official sources. Specific colors, daily stock and temporary closures still need checking before travel.

Source names and check dates

Before you go

  • Cards are labeled as charms, fortunes, prayer plaques, sets, ornaments, prayer experiences or walks in the grounds. The total includes all these types. Colors, sizes and zodiac versions of the same design count as one entry.
  • Meanings follow the shrines’ descriptions of religious prayers. They are not guarantees about health, fortune, weather or information security.
  • Photo buttons link to official pages. WhenJapan has not copied or recreated product photos. An official photo does not confirm same-day stock.
  • Travel times are approximate figures from the sources, excluding waits and queues. Cities are independent choices; check nearby opening days before combining stops into a day’s route.
  • AI-generated sketch-style cartoons illustrate general themes. They do not show the actual items; check official pages for their designs, colors and details.
